THE BAMBOOS have received critical acclaim across the board from Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop publications for their previous Tru Thoughts album 'Step It Up'. Their second album 'Rawville' is available NOW!
The Australian funk six piece are big funk collectors and inspired by artists such as The Meters, Mickey & the Soul Generation, Jimmy Smith and Reuben Wilson but have a contemporary Deep Funk sound too.
'Rawville' still embraces the deep raw organ based funk aesthetic of their album 'Step It Up', but it also embraces different flavors.
'Rawville' is a lot more song-based than 'Step It Up'. The album is half vocal based tunes and half instrumental. Vocals include those from label mate Alice Russell as well as vocalists Kylie Auldist, Tyra Hammond (Opens Souls), Fallon Williams and Ohmega Watts (Ubiquity).

AMON TOBIN - SUPERMODIFIED
At the junction of jazz and breakbeat
science, Amon Tobin is one of the undisputed masters. Instead of
drawing on jazz samples and styles as a sort of prepackaged cultural
signifier, he's engaged in the cross-fertilization and
recontextualizing that many aspire to but not so many achieve. On this
release, he casts his net farther afield--the smoky nightclub trumpets
and sultry beats of 1998's Permutation are still present, but the
hummingly intense electronics and roiling drums on tracks like "Rhino
Jockey" leave the jazz references pretty far behind. The track
"Precursor" uses what is called "vocal percussion" to emulate the
click-and-pop assemblages of some of the farther out German
electronic experimentalists and segues neatly into the down-tempo
groove of "Saboteur," which is built on a bottle-clinking percussive
sample from obscure '60s blues-rock outfit the Aynsley Dunbar
Retaliation. "Keepin' It Steel" is reminiscent of Stereolab in a
way, with a pleasantly lazy tempo that manages the neat trick of
sounding like it's in an odd-metre time signature when it's not,
punctuated by horns that evoke a '70s reggae record.

Ghosts I-IV - Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails were the most popular industrial group ever and were largely responsible for bringing the music to a mass audience. It isn't really accurate to call NIN a group; the only official member is singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor, who always remained solely responsible for NIN's musical direction (he was, however, supported in concert by a regular backing band). Unlike the vast majority of industrial artists, Reznor wrote melodic, traditionally structured songs where lyrics were a focal point. His pop instincts not only made the harsh electronic beats of industrial music easier to digest, but also put a human face on a style that usually tried to sound as mechanical as possible. While Ministry crossed over to heavy metal audiences, NIN built up a large alternative rock fan base right around the time of Nirvana's mainstream breakthrough. As a result, Reznor became a genuine star and his notoriously dark, brooding persona and provocateur instincts made him a Jim Morrison-esque sex symbol for the '90s. A long period of inactivity and writer's block followed, which gave virtually every alternative metal band of the late '90s a chance to rip off elements of NIN's sound. By the time Reznor's five-year hiatus finally ended, he was still a popular figure but his commercial momentum had slowed somewhat.
